Exophilia

Exophilia describes a sexual attraction to extraterrestrial or alien beings. As no confirmed contact with extraterrestrial life has occurred, this paraphilia exists entirely within the domains of fantasy, fiction, and imagination. It is expressed through science fiction literature, art, film, and increasingly through digital media and fan communities.

Psychologically, exophilia draws on the powerful appeal of the exotic and unknown. The alien represents the ultimate Other, a being entirely outside human experience, which for some individuals creates intense fascination that carries erotic dimensions. The attraction may be to specific physical features imagined for alien beings, to the concept of interspecies communication and intimacy, or to the power dynamics inherent in encounters with potentially superior beings.
